Old is Gold….Campa Cola May Make A Comeback Around This Diwali
National Bureau : Long before our favourite cold drink brands took over the market, we had the humble Campa Cola. Any ’80s and even ’90s kid will remember the days when Campa Cola was truly everyone’s favourite.
Campa Cola vanished from the shelves of grocery stores in 1991 and was discontinued. Now, it may be making a comeback, as part of billionaire Mukesh Ambani-controlled Reliance Industries (RIL) plan to expand the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) business.
According to a report by ET, Reliance has acquired soft drink brand Campa from Delhi-based Pure Drinks Group in a deal estimated at about Rs 22 crore. The company will probably be launching it again in October around Diwali this year.
The company will introduce cola flavour, lemon and orange via Reliance Retail stores, JioMart and more than 15 lakh kiranas. Now, the company will be competing with the American cola giants—Coca-Cola and PepsiCo.
